Vacation 2011

Surfside Beach

Isn't he a sweetie? Just a swingin' at the Jetty Park.
Seagulls and bread = feedin time
the kids (and Aaron) enjoyed throwing the bread up for the gulls to catch in midair.

Isn't she a pretty thang?

Our vacation challenge

A Family photo -- Riley wasn't having for it at all.

Footprints in the Sand -- not that you can see them very well..it was starting to get dark when we took this picture... all the feet of our family..

Vacation 2011--Surfside Beach

Riley was quick to grab a boogie board when he realized his daddy was going out into the surf..so he ran in too as quick as he could..

Allison and Blaine had a good time with the boogie boards as well. Here she comes in for a drink after taking in quite a bit of salt water.

Riley and his sand bucket. We went through a few of them during our trip.

Sandcastle Time -- one of Abby's vacation requests was to build a castle..we built several little ones through out our vacation and saw several that were built by very talented sandcastle builders. She had a great time playing in the sand though...

Posing in the water...she is a camera hog...

Run Abby...he's gonna get you...

La Casa de Playa -- The Beach House
aka...our home away from home or as Abby said "our new home" -- don't we wish we had a beach home. We had such a great time.

A few photos from Blaine and my early morning walk on the beach looking for a beautiful pink sunrise. This is what we were able to get...

If you look very closely (haha) beside the red boat, you will see a dolphin -- this was one of Abby's other vacation requirements. We did actually see it you just can not see it in the photo. We rode on the Bolivar Ferry back and forth from Galveston late in the evening and were able to see it. She was satisified.

After the "dolphin family" sighting. She is a happy girl.

Bolivar Ferry ride

After dinner at Fish Tales on the Galveston Sea Wall

Voted by all -- our most favorite beach house in Surfside Beach Village. This was the most colorful house on the roads. We enjoyed driving around and looking at all the vibrant colors of the houses and all the items decorating them.

These kids had just cleaned up after a day on the beach and are just swinging on the swing; waiting for the burgers and dogs to be ready. Salt water sure did make this group a hungry brood...they ate like crazy during the whole trip.

For some reason, this picture will not move to the top of my blog post..this is the beginning of our trip. Everyone loading in the car with headphones on as we are driving off down the driveway to begin our vacation....they look like they are ready for the beach.....

And they were defintely ready.. we had a GREAT TIME. We enjoyed the sun, we played in the sand, no one got really sun burned, we enjoyed the house that we rented for our trip -- it was like a little home away from home, we will definitely repeat this trip again.

Surfside Beach, until next time...

Hot Days of Summer -- Perfect Time for Swimming

Sunday was the perfect day to be out in the pool swimming --it was a record breaking heat day -- 105 degrees. We all had a great time in the water and the little ones are doing great starting to learn to swim. Abby tries to make it across the pool doing the doggy paddle and Riley loves to jump.

Bounties of Summer (atleast a few of them from the hot summer garden)

The kids have had a few opportunities to pick items from the garden this year. They both enjoy it quite a bit (Riley gets a little too excited and picks green tomatoes, but oh well, sometimes they ripen on the counter). Abby immediately came in the house, asked for a tomato to be washed, and ate it up whole. Riley doesn't like tomatoes so we had to substitute a strawberry from the refrigerator.

Thursday Night Date - Dallas Aboretum -Concert in the Park

Aaron and I spent last Thursday evening at the Dallas Arboretum listening to an outdoor concert, Key West, playing music from the 60s, 70s, and 80's along with music with the island sounds. We bought a picnic dinner from Central Market and had a very relaxing time together.

Sunday Morning Breakfast Picnic in the Park

This morning, we got up early before it got hot outside and went out for a breakfast picnic in the park. We were already playing before eight oclock this morning. The kids really enjoyed themselves -- they ate all their breakfast taco and then played on the slide, the monkey bars, and even watched their big sister and dad nearly get stuck in the slides. We also walked around through the gardens at the school that were created as nature areas for animals and birds. Riley and Abby had fun chasing a squirrel that they had no chance of being able to catch. It was fun and we will do it again soon.
