14th Birthday

Today is Blaine's 14th Birthday!

Happy Birthday!

For her birthday celebration, she had her friends come over and spend the night on Friday. They went to watch her perform at the MCC Ladies Basketball game half time performance (more on that later); they went bowling during extreme bowling (lights out with blacklights and disco ball going, loud music); and back to the house for movies and seeing who could stay up the longest.

Pajama Breakfast on the Polar Express

Abby, Lauryn, and Paige went to the Pajama Breakfast on the Polar Express (Deck the Halls Christmas Event). They had breakfast, made a craft picture frame item, talked to Santa, Mrs. Claus, and the elves about what they were wanting for Christmas. (Abby was more than happy to talk with everyone other than Santa... we are going to have to work on that).

Hard to believe that Christmas is close enough now to be thinking about Christmas lists, about getting out the trees and decorations, and about time to start picking out cookie recipes for Santa's plate.

Fall at the Dallas Arboretum

Happy Fall Y'all.

Today we spent the day at the Dallas Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. It was a great day out with beautiful weather and beautiful smiles and lots of laughter. We went up for the Storybook Pumpkin Village and to take fall photos of the kids. Riley had a blast running down the hill where we had a picnic lunch, Abby and Ally had a good time playing in the hay maze and Blaine took lots of really great photos of everything around. There were many different fall flowers in bloom, lots of acorns on the ground, and punkins everywhere.

It's Rodeo time in Central Texas. Today was the stick horse grand entry at the rodeo and the kids took part. Here are a few photos...

4-H Photo Contest -- Blaine

These are Blaine's 4-H Contest Photos -- she turned in eight total but these five made it to the District contest and all earned Blue Ribbons. Look for these to be hanging at the HOT Fair in the 4-H photo hallway.

Photo Contest for 4H -- Allison

These are Allison's photos that she entered into the McLennan County 4-H Photography Contest. This was her first year to participate in this project. She did exceptionally well. Her photo of the spider did not move on to the district contest but her "Sunshine" flower photo did. It received a red ribbon in the district show. "Blowing in the Wind" photo of Abby did great -- she won the category in the county contest and moved onto the district contest with it -- where she won BEST OF SHOW for the Junior Division. (The district contest is one where photos from 18 different counties compete against each other. )
